G'day Everyone. Don't get up. It's only me. After picking Peter up
from the airport yesterday we took the train to Central, meal in
Chinatown, then MLR back to Annandale and an early night for us both.
Today the fun resumed.
We drove to Loftus, and being a Wednesday it was open and operating,
pretty quiet, but perfect for our first ever TDU barbeque. The
following trams were operating today: PCC 1014, C 29 and P 1497 to
Sutherland, plus R1 1971 into the park. Bob and I went to Engadine
and purchased a quantity of salads and T-bone steaks and we cooked
these. So for the record the following TDU list members were present:
Graeme Brophy, Bob Merchant, Noel Reed, Ted Gay, Martin Pinches, Greg
Sutherland, and of course Peter and myself. We were joined for lunch
by Bill Parkinson and Ian Hanson.
At 3.30 Peter and I left and picked up Kay, my fiance, took her home
where he chatted away with young Andrew talking about trams, trains
and computers. We had dinner at an Italian restauant at Five Dock,
then dropped Kay off at a course she is doing in the city. I took
Peter to Mrs Macquaries Chair, Circular Quay, then over the Harbour
Bridge to the following points on the former isolated North Sydney
system: McMahons Point, Neutral Bay Wharf and Cremorne Wharf.
It was a great day. BTW: C 29 was built in 1898!
Keep well,
-Ian.
