Re: Trams not running between Town Hall and Circular Quay

Yeah, TSRs - the same ones have been on the L1 since the old, APS governed, ridiculously slow speed limits that applied to the Variotrams were abolished.

Despite weekend closedowns giving many opportunities for track repairs the usual procedure when a section of track deteriorates is they bung on a TSR, and it remains for along time. On the inbound track through the Glebe tunnel there has been a hole 2/3 of the way in that has existed for years, with a TSR that has recently been extended with speed lowered from 40 to 20kmh. Apparently running in a tamper for a lift and line of the hole, with some extra ballast, is just too hard. Also, the original 80kmh limit through the tunnel has been cut to 60 in both directions.

And every turnout on the L1, despite having locked railway type points, has a 25kmh “TSR" speed limit over it, which was increased from the original 15kmh limit imposed.

It seems these TSRs are pretty permanent.
