The destination had been called "Prahran" since cable tram days (when the
southern terminus was at Carlisle St). The point was that the line ran
through Prahran.

Essendon Depot, of course, is well outside Essendon. The West Coburg
terminus is in Pascoe Vale South. When the East Kew route was extended
beyond Burke Rd, it was already in North Balwyn; the East Kew railway
station (on the Outer Circle railway) was at almost the same place as the
Kew tram shunt, and the Kew railway station (which became the site of the
VicRoads office
