If you are smart, you don't go to the Melbourne Cup, but if you insist on going trains and trams are the best way.

Here are a series of pics I made today.

There were a few E's running but many more Z3s.

The tramway becomes effectively a private right of way for the duration of the Spring racing Carnival.

One of the pics shows a train crossing Epsom Rd on the railway bridge while, in the distance,  E 6057 shunts in Epsom Rd near the corner of Union Rd.  The 'long loop' was not in use, but it may well be used when the time comes to take the punters home.

Only members with privileges get to park their cars on the racecourse.

Of course, if all that is just too inconvenient you just fly in by helicopter.
