They have replaced the stanchion they snapped off at Sydenham - but that oops seems to have cost them 2 months. I assume this first test run can't occur till they do a 2nd take at running the overhead into Sydenham station from the tunnel dive again. And hopefully this time not pull over the stanchion. Till that's done they probably won't want to liven up the tunnel overhead.

Any one seen any track maps - how many 'emergency crossovers' have the provided between Chatswood and Sydenham ?


The first few trains to run won't be driver less either - they will be manually operated at slow speed by a engineering test driver. They probably won't even have functional signalling at that point, it will be a 'one train in steam' possession to test clearances - then more manual runs to prove the train detection and control as the signalling is comissioned. Turning driving over to the computer is a late stage in the process. Will be months later before a train does the trip 'driver less'.
