Thanks Yuri, there's some nice shots there.

Cheers,

Diagonally opposite that closed pub on the corner was a Bob Jane tyre place where I used to get tyres. Whilst the car was in, I was usually out and along the 55 route (as it was back then) and have many shots of Z along there. Definitely well worth a revisit when you are back that way. Further north there are plenty of opportunities where the route curves west then north and through the long dip towards Moreland Road.

Lovely shots though, the sun gods were certainly smiling.

Yesterday my good friends at the Haymarket decided that I needed a change of scene so sent me off to visit their colleagues at RMH in Royal Park. I never knew it existed as my car previously seemed to stop at Royal Park/Zoo station.
Anyhow, after a pleasant visit, I was directed out onto Park Street.
Now I have to report that in my70+ years on this planet I've never seen / visited / crossed this tram line here before.

It bore exploring (mindful that I was probably treading perilously close to Mal's patch but he's been in my neck of the woods recently so whatever).

Tramtracker told me nothing was due for 6 minutes so I was surprised to see Z3.146 appear, aah, it's on a route 0 service to "Not taking passengers" rolling inbound.

Z3.146 might have been on test but the drivers' eyesight certainly wasn't: fortunately the eastbound traffic was happy to wait 'cos size wins:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.57MB}

E2.6059 crosses Park Street outbound on a route 58 service: these things are looong and hard to fit in frame, especially with traffic in the way. Note the safety tubes covering the power line where it passes close to another cable:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.06MB}

E2.6059 continued upgrade towards Brunswick Road, a rather nice Victorian-era building's appearance marred by multiple mobile phone transmitters:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.18MB}

Aaargh, should've walked up towards Brunswick Road following 6059 and would've shot E2.6065 and E2.6059 in parallel across Brunswick Road (but probably would have run out of puff within a few meters). So here's E2.6065 inbound past a graffitied sub-station:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.16MB}

Thanks, tram gods!...... checked by slow changing traffic lights and NO traffic on Park Street momentarily I was able to reposition and snap E2.6065 crossing Park Street with a wonderful stand of Acanthus at left surviving nicely with benign neglect. Acanthus leaves are commonly portrayed in plaster in ceiling roses in the formal rooms of Victorian era terrace houses, so this plant is right at home in the Victorian-era homes precinct along Park Street:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.54MB}

Now a B class fits in frame much more comfortably: B2.2027 inbound across Park Street (the only B2 I saw all afternoon):

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.72MB}

Finally, afternoon peak hour traffic was making unobstructed photography challenging (and I was fading fast) so a last "arty-farty" shot of outbound E2.6091 through the Acanthus would be my last shot of the day:

{2,400 x 1,500 pxl; 2.4MB}

Enjoy.

Yuri.
(memo to self: must look at Brunswick Road / Grantham Street intersection soon)
