Beacon Cove today

C1.3006 in Amazon AOA departs Beacon Cove on a 109 Box Hill service. The demolition of the 25 year old (former) Beacon Cove foodstore is well underway at right of picture. It will be replaced by a low rise three-storey building with yuppie supermarket on ground floor (think something like Brewsters or Thomas Dux) and fourteen luxury apartments above with views over seagulls fighting over scraps and chips combined with the enticing smell of deep-fryer cooking oil from the adjacent D'Lish Fish takeaway.

As a result of the demolition, Yarra Trams have lost their toilet facilities which were part of the foodstore building.

The two thunderboxes beside 3006 now provide bathroom amenities for YT drivers.

Yarra Trams years ago (ca. 2015 or earlier) promised that along with the building, a new double track terminus with central platform and scissors crossover would be constructed.
Artist's impressions of the new building do show double track over Beach Street:

as well as on the plan:

I've copied these images to my website in case they "fade" away.

We'll see.

Currently Yarra Tram's Beacon Cove "supplementary superstop" is a narrow strip of unlit asphalt complete with muddy puddle at the hole in the fence on the north side of Beach Street.
Timetables are cunningly arranged so that as soon as it's dark, outbound trams arrive whilst there's another tram at the terminus.
Customers are told that this is the end stop enabling them to stumble out into the darkness. Once all the customers have disembarked, then and only then does the tram in the terminus depart, allowing the now empty tram to enter the terminus free of pesky customers.

A few weeks ago, I had to help a lady up after she fell heavily after losing her footing in the muddy puddle, with either mud or blood or both on the left side of her head - couldn't see clearly because of the lack of any street lighting in the area.
