They're driving at those curves too hard and the curve speed limits are too
high for that type of tram. Maybe it was a French conspiracy to get Spanish
trams off their market by destroying them. I imagine Alstom is more strict
about the limits within which their trams can be operated, noting the way
that they crawl around curves. The operators would therefore not want to
invalidate their warranty by "reckless" driving. It's one frustrating
reason we can't get faster journey times out of them. A dollar to a dime
that the journey time on IWLR will be lengthened after (if) the CAFs are
returned to service.

A manufacturer offering a range of running gear options would be in a
position to advise the operator of the most suitable type of tram for a
system, e.g. need I say:
