There is a record of the death of a Athol Wenlock Moore in 2003 – at the age of 88.

That would make him born in 1914 or 1915.

There’s also a record of him being a “veteran” born in Yass, New South Wales.

Considering it was war time, maybe he was able to get some photos whilst on some form of military leave?

It would have been very unusual for someone to be taking transport photos in different locations during the war years?

Fascinating!

I staggered across these snaps taken in 1940/1941 by an Athol W. Moore, whose negatives are in the possession of the State Library of Victoria. Amazing what you find in obscure places, and I get the impression Mr. Moore may have been a gunzel, as tram and train shots feature prominently in his photos.
