Route 58 is back to normal operation today after installation of the new platform stop st South Yarra Station.
The stop is another variation in design. It's a Vienna style stop where the roadway is ramped up to footpath level and brought out to the tram line.
The ramped section is also a bicycle path, as the attached pic shows. Cyclists must of course stop when a tram is stopped, but I wonder how disciplined passengers will be in keeping off the bike path when there is no tram at the stop.
As was leaving I looked out of the front window of the tram and spotted E class 6057 heading east at Punt Rd. It may have been on a clearance test run for the new stop, or perhaps route familiarisation for the driver.
