It is interesting that around 200 metres of track is being replaced at
South Yarra Station as the stop is being improved with level access. A
person who knows about such matters told me it was minimum track clearance
between trams before the relay and will be after, so I don't know why there
is such an extensive relay of not terribly old tracks.

I was sent this rather nice photo labelled as at Preston Depot but
suggesting it could be old Thornbury Depot. The photo is also labelled as
first year apprentices, 1982.
