The SEC had commenced repairs to the car, however the pending closure of
Geelong and the availability of surplus cars stopped the work.

Subsequently also no 16 which was stored out the back waiting overhaul
was also scrapped to make room for the Geelong cars.

The the bogie cars that came from Geelong Nos 37, 39 & 40 (became
Ballarat 42, 41 & 43) were repainted in Geelong in 1955 in readiness for
their transfer.
