Hi All,

The strange object is on the outbound side of the North Brighton station.
It's not duplicated on the inbound side, pictured in a second photograph.

The object looks to be a gargoyle but it isn't connected to any water
runoff. If it was, it would drench people waiting below.

Much of the station building gutter is adorned by some low-profile iron
lace-work on which several gargoyles are placed symmetrically.

According to some purists, gargoyles only qualify as such if they
incorporate the means of discharging water from gutters/spouting/etc,
otherwise they're referred to as 'grotesques'.

Just where the North Brighton cast iron came from, and why it was installed
there, is not known to me.
