Mal and all,

I mixed up Swanston and Spencer Streets. The hotel I stayed in is a former bank building, on the corner of Collins and Spencer Streets. You can sit downstairs in the former banking chamber, which is now the restaurant and lounge, and watch the trams (or their pantographs anyway) turn the corner from Collins into Spencer Street.

My apologies for any confusion I caused.
