The overhead visible in this shot of No 119 supports both trams and trolley buses. The twin wires at the left of Ian’s photograph are for trolley buses turning from Macquarie St into Campbell St and the pair of wires branching away here are for trolleybuses returning to the tram depot.

The U-shaped devices in the depot overhead carry the trolley bus negative wire above the level of the positive wires to avoid the possibility of bow collectors short-circuiting positive and negative wires.
