Not quite correct.

The view is from Darlinghurst not Kings Cross.  A view from Kings Cross
would be looking down William Street and feature R and R1 tramcars
exclusively.

Those were the days when there was always a tram in sight.  Daily tram
patronage was in excess of 1 million passengers.

The points in the foreground operated from an elevated signal box
located to the right of the photograph separated the Anzac Parade
services on the leftside from the Oxford Street (Bondi & Bronte) services.

Each of those footboard tramcars would have had a seated capacity of 80
passengers plus standees of up to the same number.  The majority of the
footboard cars would have been operating as coupled sets (one driver,
two conductors) thus providing the highest crew productivity in Australia.
