If you want a cracking pace go see how it is done in Melbourne. Oh wait. I forgot that there,s nothing that these people can learn from Melbourne.

What year was that from? I think the general drift of these angst-ridden projects is that the problems of inception soon fade into history - if the end result turns out well. I would say that such is the case with Edinburgh which had a disastrous inception but, from what I understand, the operation is pretty good and everybody is now happy. CSELR, on the other hand, tripped over at the finish line with that excruciatingly slow operation and they've obviously made efforts to improve on that, their efforts motivated recently by a petition from 20,000 bus users who say there's no way they'll use the trams as long as they're so slow.

Now the journey times are showing as 33-35 minutes, which is still at least five minutes short of what's desirable from the perspective of bus interchange, but a long way from where it started. The fact that it's still a work in progress (more than a year later) is indicated by the fact that the timetable hasn't yet been updated to reflect these trip times and the trams are still not publicly live-tracked. Possibly the headways have fractured a little under the pressure of the higher running-time expectation. We'll see. It's doing decently within its own immediate catchment. The big question is the bus restructure in the SE and the issue of forced interchange for commuters from beyond the tram catchment.
