Yes, Peter! Other interested school kids in Kew watched eagerly to see
which new Ws showed up on route 69 (and school short workings, of which
there were many).

And a while later, some W6s and W7s, 8 in all, showed up on loan to Kew
(and some non-resilient-wheel SW6s went to Preston) as part of a test
programme to investigate what was regarded as excessive wheel flats on
Preston Bourke St cars. Four of those were W7s 1036, 1037, 1039 and 1040.
We did enjoy having the newest trams, for a while.
