I well realise that Yarra does not own the trams and struggled for years to get rid of all the non-W8 Ws, eventually succeeding a couple of years ago when they got rid of the Restaurant trams as well. It’s funny that nobody else has safety concerns about running them in the street.

I daresay that Yarra wasted no time getting rid of the Z1s from all their depots although I don’t know if any linger at Preston workshops but are sure to be resisting any attempt to allow any to run any on tours.

Being dumped on the ground at Newport is obviously better than nothing, but…

It is fine that the disposal of the surplus Ws is being handled efficiently. It would be even better if each was required to have a roof installed over it within six months of acquisition. Unfortunately I think few people realise how fragile roofs are without regular paint application when left out in the weather.
