With my end of school year "job" at Dad's firm - Modern Printing in
Bouverie Street - I also was a regular of that stop but I always sweated on
getting a tram that went to the very bottom shunt in Victoria Street;
nearer Bouverie Street you see. And I often managed to join a southbound
tram down there because the crew were so concerned about getting across and
away they took no notice of me getting on. There always seemed no question
of being told to get off when discovered either just check or issue a
ticket.

I remember joining a tram at Lonsdale Street (actually the Latrobe St
shunt) in Swanston Street and the connie was only concerned that I was
going south and not north.

Oh happy days.
