Hi Steve, according to the copious notes on Bendigo tram charters I have here, the date of this private charter was 31 December, 1971. A Mr. D. O'Brien of Seven Hills, New South Wales chartered one Birney tram, one single truck tram and one bogie tram for two return trips to Eaglehawk and one return trip to Golden Square for a total cost of $60.75. The motorman was the late Roy Kurzke.

Thank you for all the great photos.
The young guy in the red shirt is author and filmmaker extraordinaire Greg Travers (not Travis). As most members should know, Greg has written several books on Australian transport and produced many transport DVDs, all titled Just ,,, an example being Just Trams in Melbourne.
I have now spoken with Greg and he has supplied the following information:
Bendigo 19 is at Eaglehawk terminus on New Year’s Day 1972 on a tour organised by John Fawl - L-R Greg Travers, (the driver/motorman,) John Fawl (inside the tram), Dennis O’Brien, Ian Lynas, Alan Travers (Greg’s cousin) & Peter Vasey – a John Ward photo
The tour was just for those six in the picture and, of course, John Ward.
