Jeffs Photos No 113
  Peter Bruce

Jeff, you are sly dog, don't tell me you didn't know in advance of the impending Royal nuptials, why else would you have chosen this particular shot of No 30 ?? Come on, don't be shy, you can tell us.... you'd got the whisper hadn't you ? Anyway here's Prince Charles and No 30, no wonder It's taken him so long to propose, getting a drive of a Birney would take some beating and it would take years for the memory to fade, I reckon Camilla's got the job in front of her.

While we're on the subject, here is a picture of another old scrubber. This one is waddling out into Wendouree Parade from the old Ballaarat Depot, I don't remember ever seeing this car, thanks for the photo Jeff.

That's it for the provincial tramways, next week I'll start on the more recent Melbourne photos.

Regards to all, Peter Bruce.

P.S. An ex South Melbourne connie, Ray Roberts, aka "The Silent Knight" has put out a book "Melbourne Tramway Memories" and I've got a copy. It is a combination of random memories and photocopies of newspaper items and the like, not professionally done and far from exhaustive, but interesting none the less, especially for those on the job between the 60s and 90s. He has paid to have it professionally transcribed and bound and is asking a pitiful $20 to help defray the cost. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch with him.
