Not in a W2, you would certainly blow the line breaker. But that was what the Clydes were famous for, cut the first notch then straight to the last notch in series, then the first notch parallel and then to the last. They were able to accelerate fast and, if you knew how to do it properly, you did not put everyone including your Connie, on the floor.

A well-known former MMTB driver once told me that it was possible to notch--up a tram as follows:
series 1
series 2
full parallel

a) How can this be done without tripping the line breaker, and
b) One assumes there were no pax in the tram at the time.
