Re: Re: Electric buses

I understand that electric buses fit under the category of electric traction and hence discussion should be allowed but I feel that part of what makes trolleybuses and trams interesting is that they travel along a set pathway..

Although non guided transport can still be interesting but in a different way.

These newfangled “ trackless trams” will muddy the waters here?

No need, this group permits discussion of electric traction forms of transport despite the word trams in the title. But trams make up the bulk of the discussion. We were recently discussing Toronto which, if I am not mistaken, is not in Australia. Hence a minor reference to the "electric" buses shouldn't be condemned provided the appropriate moniker - O.T. - is appended.

My recent posting entitled Plan B (a first posting of its type here and not to be repeated anytime soon) was to show how trams, trains and buses can work together when things are disrupted or go pear shaped as so often happens.

Given that topics in this group have included the Sydney Metro and other heavy rail (non-TRAM) topics, I think it's reasonable to be able to discuss other forms of electric traction.
Perhaps we should start a new group - Australian Electric Public Transport or some such.
