You could ask Melbourne.

During my time on the job, somewhere around 1990 one of the steel poles on Princes Bridge got tired of standing up straight.

I don’t think it fell to the ground, but certainly intervention was needed, and of course it chose the ideal time to get tired - about 5pm on a weekday.

Nevertheless the service continued past.
