I think there is a limit of 14 trams out of service for life extension at any one time - to avoid tram shortages for service.

The program started with Yarra Trams doing 3 Bs themselves - and developing guides for the work.  Downer are adapting those guides for the Z and A classes.

They are also doing the C1, D1 and D2 classes, but not the C2s - presumably because of the small number of these trams.

All this is in the franchise agreement, including that all the Z3s currently on the register of rolling stock will be done,but I don't expect they will all be done.

An extract from franchise agreement is attached, showing numbers by class.

So far I have seen all the listed classes except A and D2 at East Preston.
