Re: IWLR suspended due to flooding in Hay St. Again (17th June 2019)

It was a very wet (and cold) winter when we had 134s in town. They seemed to have designed the street layout very carefully so that the water poured down Pitt St and turned right into Hay street. Hay street between Pitt and George was flooded up to footpath level on several occasions. If I hadn’t been driving the D it would have been a pretty miserable job
Geoff O who has been dodging the showers at Loftus today.

They need to investigate the cause of this flooding, if transdev are paranoid about 'deep' water maybe someone should suck out the drains nearby to ease the 'ponding' of water.
Of course they would probably have to close the line for a month just to investigate !

Maybe they should fit Wellies to all the trams wheels. LOL.

Tim, in not so wet Sydney's sth west.

Walking past today I noticed the scrolling signs saying 'Services
starting at Convention due to flooding at Capitol Square'. The sign was
being ignored by a number of people waiting for non existent services.

The water level may have been higher earlier - when I was there it had
stopped raining.

The Urbos 3 trams are afraid of getting their feet wet. One of the cars
has been out of service for many months due to damage incurred by
driving it through 10cm deep water. So they (the operator, Transdev)
will be quite paranoid as they can't afford to loose another car.
