Other factors:

Can't remember the dates but during DoT (now TfNSW)'s ongoing war of
attrition against the IWLR there where at least two factors:

(a) students were not able to make use of the SSTS  school students
transport subsidy even when one IWLR  trip could provide a quicker and
more direct service than two school special buses.

(b) light rail was not part of the unified transport fare system unlike
buses, ferries and heavy rail and as IWLR was a 'premium service'
according to DoT its base fare set by DoT was higher than the  bus base
fare.
