Certainly not a unique problem - I've seen complaints locally that the
price of steam tours is too expensive, but with all the upfront costs
before the train even hits the rails.

On the 28th of April, Transport Heritage NSW is taking the 'red set'
from North Sydney to Waterfall and is doing a combo deal with the tram
museum.

$55 for the trip, children $20. For a family that could be $140 in fares
for a day out (and that doesn't include fares to and from the start
point, but being a Sunday that will be only $2.70 for each adult). Not a
cheap day out by any means.
