The stopping places in the median strip had all been removed before I left Canberra in 2003. This was done, as was stated at the
time, to prepare for the light rail services. As such, it has not been legal to stop in the median strip for at least the last 16
years - there are no stop lines and no related traffic lights. If you have entered the median strip - either as a result of turning
right or crossing Northbourne Avenue, you are required to continue straight across.

Stopping in the median strip is equivalent to entering an intersection and then stopping because the traffic lights in front of you
have changed to red. NOT ALLOWED!
