Marking 50 years

Brisbane Tram Museum marked 50 years since the closure of Brisbane's trams
today.
The event included runs by historic trams like 47, the piping in of tram
341 by Sarah Pointing, great grand-daughter of one of the pipers who piped
it in 50 years ago and a re staging of the final run in of 554, the last
tram.
The Lord Mayor of Brisbane spoke and said that closing the trams was one of
the biggest mistakes in the history of the city.

The event was enjoyed by hundreds of visitors, and with TV coverage by 3
channels, more are expected tomorrow.
