Re: Sydney's troubled light rail line set for staged opening to passengers

I note Greg that on another forum to which you contribute, this very
incisive comment was recently made by an engineer familiar with TfNSW in
relation to political cupability for the delays to the CSELR project, the
implication being that if Labor was running the project the same would have
happened to them:

"I don’t understand this persistent belief that politicians have any impact
on project delivery. They select priorities and allocate funding but they
don’t run the procurement or project management on a day to day basis

Blame for this one lies squarely with TfNSW bureaucrats IMO. They
overspecced it, did a poor job in procuring it (risk dumping) and then
exacerbated their mistakes in managing it (seeing the contractor as an
enemy instead of focusing on the outcome and shared goals)

This is typical of TfNSW and they haven’t learned anything. It occurred on
Metro NW and it’s happening on Metro City/SW as well. When their toxic
behaviour meets an incompetent contractor, disaster is guaranteed."
