That is De Chene Reserve. It would appear from Google Maps that it is now primarily a soccer ground with no cricket pitch in situ.
As a former cricketer, I used to travel on the 48 to my home ground in North Balwyn for training after work. If Mrs F wasn’t working, she would pick me up, otherwise it was a long arduous 3 tram trip home, via the 48, 69 and 6. Many cricket grounds I played at in Melbourne were easily accessible by public transport.

Hi, Mal, and all!
Attached is a wonderful pic dated 8/1/1955 from the late Noel Reed of 651 at East Coburg, also with MV trolley bases. A VW “beetle”, a clock-face traffic light and a game of cricket on the reserve on the north side of Bell Street!
Cheers!
Len

It’s a bit hard to tell from the enlarged photo of 453, but I reckon 453 (along with 450, 451 and 452) still had the single spring Metro Vickers trolley bases that I remember seeing around that time.
I think you are right Len.
A Ray Pearson pic shows a MetroVic base on 453 in Swanston St.
