The first word that came into my mind was astroturf, but in fact it
performs a more active job than astroturf. Either way, it's a hell of a lot
better-looking and noise-absorbing and less heat-emitting than a glaring
concrete runway.

In Australia, I think it has a lot less to do with political and
bureaucratic prejudices than who has shares in concrete companies.
