Joyce Barry Mick, don't think she went into green, I think her aim was just to be a driver, which she did. She was at Brunswick.

Gday Richard, All

The school kids knew the run nos on Glenferrie Rd trams so that
they could meet their mates

One day I couldnt get a BTH motored W2 into parallel going up Calantina
Hill,1 in 15, in Glenferrie Rd with a packed load of Kids, kitbags on the
step and Cadets with their 303s,minus bolt.

This was OK but if kids wanted to ride on the step, I said get in or get
off or I wouldnt start the tram.

No go if I couldnt see legs going onto the step

There was a lady Braid, Norma Frost, who supervised the MLC kids
at Barkers Rd.

She was the only lady Braid before being a driver was a necessary
to be a Braid,AFAIK she looked after women Connies

Joyse? Baird, a Hanna St Connie, wanted to be a Braid, the Board said
Sorry, you have to be a Driver 1st

She went to the Union who held a meeting, recognising the discrimation,
and the members voted to let women train as drivers

Quote " I dont need a penis to drive a Tram"

She did become a Driver, but did she become a Braid ?

Peter Bruce,please coment

Cheers, Mick
