I think one of the reasons Sydney Opal launched so well is that Gladys
didn't mess with it when the government changed and she became transport
minister - there were some political changes in the project management
team, but largely they left the contractors alone to get on with the job.

There really was scope for her and the new project managers she put in
to start changing specifications and mess the project right up. I have
to give her credit for staying out and letting them finish what they
started.
