According to not confirmed rumours ALSTOM will stop the production of tyred tramways (tramway sur pneus) from 2019.

Cities like Venezia and Mestre will have the need to find solutions for the availability and the delivery of spare parts. If this rumour will be proven to be right, the production halt will cause the shutdown of the tyred tram services in 2036. The responsible alderman of Venezia has contacted the authorities of Padova and representatives from ALSTOM to find solutions for the availability of spare parts.

The problem has been caused by the unsuccessfull marketing and sales efforts related to the Translohr (NTL) product line. Only 7 (seven) cities worldwide have implemented the tyred tramway until now. These cities are: Mestre/Venezia (I), Padova (I), Clermont-Ferrand (F), Paris (F), Medellín (Colombia), Tianjin (China), Shanghai (China).

Any member of this group having more information about the validity of the rumours, is invited to share this information within this group.
