The thing is Mal that, not only you, but the tramways and Comeng also
thought of this - and then it was decided to abandon the idea! The poor old
Bs also missed out on Comeng's pioneering part low-floor design which would
have been a world first (for modern trams), so the kudos went to the Swiss,
Germans and French. I guess the upside, though, is that Melbourne would
have been carrying the can for ironing out all the "childhood illness"
technical issues that often bedevil any new innovative concept and no doubt
the fleet engineers were grateful to escape this!
