Re: Re: First Sydney daytime tram test and more. Skynews

Each morning I wake up much too early so check emails and newspapers while still in bed using the iPad. These are Gold Coast Bulletin, Brisbane Times, Sky News and Courier Mail Brisbane. I then check GCB occasionally during the day. That’s where stories come from. I could check others like ABC but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Maybe cuts to the ABC budget by Canberra is limiting ABC research time.

It’s interesting that we agree on the Fremantle building defacement.. I did a google search to see if there were protests but found little. But there was plenty about the expected very high cost of removing this ‘yellow foil’, much more than expected and likely to stain the paint underneath. Artists? Bah!!!

The number of cable channels (if this is what they are) seems befitting a transcontinental railway. I've never seen anything like this inside a tramway tunnel.

Thanks for using Sky news Richard. Since it was kindly brought to our attention by the Victorian transport minister, I've been dipping into its news for a period now and I've found that, while lacking much depth (understandably, being a video streaming channel), it is very fair and professional and a refreshing change from the ABC which may provide more depth, but then is often so poorly-researched and skewed that's it's not a lot of use as a reliable news service. We now have Sky free-to-air via WIN, which is a big breakthrough for regional Australia. I don't expect much local transport news but for stories like this it is good.
