I use a Vidbox by Honestech for conversions which is easy to use but there may be technical issues which I am yet to investigate. They also naturally have a version for PCs.

Nevertheless it would not be worth buying one for just one tape.

As for tape quality, video editing programmes can improve problems a lot, but there certainly are limits.

Hi Tim

If you still have a video player, you can buy an adaptor kit to connect your VCR to a USB connection on your computer. The kits usually come with software to convert it into a video format and you can edit it, maybe enhance the quality. Try eBay, or Jaycar (maybe more expensive)

There are also shops who will do the conversion for you, perhaps with professional grade equipment, but they are not cheap and charge by the minute.

[TramsDownUnder] 2107

With the 21st anniversary of the arrival of 2107 in Sydney this friday & the recent pics of 2107 at Penrith in its sad & sorry condition.

After 3 years of sitting in the hot afternoon sun out Penrith way, I noticed the front of the aoa is very faded.
Will it be able to be removed ? Or is it permanently stuck on.?
If it can be removed will it pull the paint off from underneath?

Another thing, I have a home made video of the arrival of 2107.
I followed the convoy from The Crossroads all the way to the city. In some places I got ahead of it to film it oncoming.
The vid of course is raw, unedited & on VHS-C video tape in PAL format.
I don't have the equipment to edit this film into a better condition, can anyone help or offer a suggestion as to how I can do it.

I think it would be an interesting item for the museum if it was done properly.

Having said this, I must dig it out & have another look.

Also, this business of Transdev not wanting to hire enthusiasts sounds a bit like discrimination to me.

All for now,

Tim, in Sydney.
