I would suggest that the creators of the once mighty Sydney tram system
would be quite comfortable with this. They would not want to take the blame
for the current fiasco.

It's not paint. They are just stickers. As is most of the 'paint' job.
Peal off and replace with a new number in minutes.

They may very well start with 001. They are determined to make a break
with the past and pretend the once mighty Sydney tram system didn't
exist. This all new 'Light Rail'.
