Looks to me like track renewal works and a connecting bus on the left? Buses replacing trams back in the sixties?

What was happening there, Mal? The tram is on the wrong track (a shunting movement?), there is a fairly crowded tramways bus on the road to the left, a tramway works vehicle blocking the road, and a lot of people standing behind the tram.

The lights hanging from the overhead over the roadway suggest track reconstruction works, but the crowd of people suggest a gunzel outing!

Goodness, so much has changed in 50 years, but amazingly, the trams remain and the line has even been extended in the interim. If that was 1968, then Clem was about to announce the destruction of the Brisbane trams, and Sydney's were seven years' gone.
