Re: New Video: Domain Rd and Toorak Rd 21 Minutes

Thanks Mal,

It is interesting when some particular tram is captured and only later it is discovered to have special significance. More often it is a tram in regular service which years later ends up in a museum.

Anyway it will be interesting to see in what regards 2034 varies from 2088. Hopefully they can be captured together sometime, depending on depot allocations.

Correct about the often ‘Blank’ destinations in photos and videos. Destinations generally flicker, something to do with limiting wear, while the video camera takes frames, like old movie films did. During videoing, the desto and camera gradually slide into synch, then gradually slide out again. Thus visible then blank destos.

I have saved a few Domain Interchange scenes for the future video, but Hey Mal, couldn’t your mobile phone take some video of the new track arrangements, and I could marry your After scenes with my Before scenes. I can give you a few hints on how to do it best :-)

Are there any other volunteers?

Regards,

Richard

Thanks Richard, an interesting record.

The tram at 4min 30sec and again at 8min 45sec is 2034, one of the three prototype B2 refurbished trams - your video shows the new LED lights well.
The first of the 'production' B2s to come out of the Downer project at East Preston will be 2088.

The apparently 'flashing' destination in several shots is a result of the video strobing with the destination display - not what the passengers see.

Your next video may feature the S-curves now installed betwen Toorak Rd and Park St Sth Melbourne - still image attached.
