renamed stations.

Roderick.

Tues.17.5.18 Metro Twitter.
8.49 Southern Cross station, peak hour. Escalator breaks down. Rather than
turn it off and let it run as a stairwell the geniuses call in repairs. Shut
down two escalators at once leaving no way to get down to the platform from
Collins Street. Incompetence of the highest order. - The escalator cannot be
used as a stairwell due to safety reasons. We are advising our passengers to
use the Bourke Street end, if possible in order to ease exit. [the perpetual
management bleat, and hope that 'safety' can justify anything. If only PTV
employed engineers instead of spin-doctor journalists. Static escalators
are used as stairs around the world, and in Melbourne, often].

- 16.20 13 buses are in operation with an additional three ordered, however
they may take over an hour to arrive.
- 16.36 Trains have resumed, with minor delays.
- 16.40 This happened an hour ago! Are you guys kidding me? This should not
take this long to remove a fuxking tree! Who's in charge? Woody Woodpecker?
- 17.57 An hour and a half to get to the city from Glen Waverley!
15.22 Major Delays (an equipment fault at Pakenham).

For a bridge over growing Epping, government lays money down 17 July 2018.
One of Sydney’s most notorious suburban bottlenecks is set for some relief,
after the state government announced a project to widen the Epping Station
Bridge.
Funding for the project will come from a program aimed at accelerating
housing development, with the area around Epping Station having already been
subject to significant residential construction.
“We have listened to the local Epping community and addressed their
concerns, particularly that they see the road as a problematic pinch point,”
the Planning and Housing Minister, Anthony Roberts, said.
Beecroft Road, where it crosses the train lines at Epping Station, is going
to be widened. Photo: Janie Barrett The bridge-widening project, the
planning and design of which will be paid for with $50 million from the
Department of Planning and Environment, comes before the impending temporary
shutdown of the Epping to Chatswood rail line.
The line will be shut for seven months in September. Following the shutdown,
the line will re-open, connected to the Sydney Metro North West rail line
that runs past Rouse Hill in the city’s north-west.
“Widening the Epping Station Bridge is another critical piece of the
infrastructure puzzle in Sydney’s growing north-west and will be a
significant boost to the local community,” Mr Roberts said.
Commuters brace for Epping to Chatswood line closure.
With the date for the Epping to Chatswood train line closure revealed,
commuters will have to start planning how they will get to work and school.
Roads Minister Melinda Pavey said the Epping Station Bridge project would
add another westbound lane to the bridge, a central median strip, as well as
wider footpaths crossing the rail line.
“The project forms part of a government package to unlock development around
Epping Railway Station and support new homes,” Ms Pavey said.
Epping MP Damien Tudehope said: “The community is right behind this project,
and with good reason. It will reduce travel times and increase pedestrian
safety.”

Gareth Southgate has tube station renamed in his honour as Paris metro does
the same for Didier Deschamps.
UK Sun July 17, 2018.
video: French Fans Celebrate World Cup Win With Fountains, Flags, and Fire
GARETH SOUTHGATE has an underground station named after him, following
England’s World Cup exploits.
The Southgate tube station on the Piccadilly Line in Enfield will get a
rebranding in honour of the Three Lions boss for 48 hours as of Monday,
Transport for London revealed.
The 47-year-old helped England to their first World Cup semi-finals in 28
years and earned popularity for his attitude and fashion.
TfL’s London Underground managing director Mark Wild said of the renaming:
“The great performance of the England team this summer brought people of all
ages together in celebration.
“We’re delighted to be able to show our appreciation to Gareth and the team
by renaming the station in his honour.”
Ahead of their last four clash against Croatia, fans dubbed it Waistcoat
Wednesday, in honour of Southgate’s signature style.
The former Middlesbrough coach was often welcomed by the travelling English
fans with his own chant based on Atomic Kitten’s famous ‘Whole Again’ song.

This is what happens when you win a World Cup Meanwhile, in France six Paris
metro stations were temporarily renamed in honour of France’s World Cup
winning champions after their 4-2 rollercoaster victory against Croatia.
Among the changes, station Victor Hugo became “Victor Hugo Lloris”, named
after the team’s captain and goalkeeper, whose second half mistake gave
Croatia faint hopes of a late comeback.
The metro stop at Bercy has become “Bercy les Bleus”, a play on words to
thank the team. The station Avron has taken the name “Nous Avron Gagne”, a
play on the French to mean “We have won”.
Charles de Gaulle-Etoile was turned into “On a 2 Etoiles”, meaning “We have
two stars” -- referring to the country’s first World Cup win on home soil in
1998 and last night’s victory in Russia.
Notre-Dame des Champs has become “Notre Didier Deschamps”, while
Champs-Elysees- Clemenceau has been changed to “Deschamps
Elysees-Clemenceau” -- both stations pay tribute to the team’s coach Didier
Deschamps, who was also a midfielder in the 1998 side.
Southgate - Gareth Southgate.
Champs Elysées-Clémenceau - Deschamps Elysées.

renamed Gareth Southgate!
