Those of you who follow avidly Rod Smith's daily digest may have noticed a map showing partial bustitution on Route 19 next weekend.
It's at: http://tdu.to/i/61018 , just after some 'transit related' pictures of fruit and pastries at Clifton Hill :-P
Works are about putting in a platform stop where the wide Royal Parade becomes narrow Sydney Rd. The current stop (pictured) is a little 'bushland idyl'.
See:
https://yarratrams.com.au/service-changes/network-upgrade-works-sydney-road-route-19
Yarra Trams aims to serve route 19 with all low floor trams, but there are currently only 4 platform stops (out of 37 stops) along the entire route.
They are at:
5-Melbourne Central Station/Elizabeth St (Melbourne City)
7-Queen Victoria Market/Elizabeth St (Melbourne City)
9-Haymarket/Elizabeth St (Melbourne City)
40-North Coburg Terminus/Sydney Rd (Coburg North)
The new stop is a small step in the right direction.
Mal Rowe - always relieved when a B2 arrives instead of a D2 on route 19
