Light rail work shutting Stewart Avenue for long weekend
June 8 2018 - 9:00AM
STEWART Avenue will remain shut over the long weekend as light rail works on the arterial Wickham thoroughfare continue.

The road is scheduled closed between Hunter Street and the Honeysuckle Drive turn-off about 7pm on Thursday night, and is slated to reopen at 5am on Tuesday.

This is the second weekend of work closing the stretch, and involves installing rails and building tracks.

Detours will remain in place to send traffic along Hunter Street and Albert Street at Wickham during the closures, while access from Hannell Street to Honeysuckle Drive will remain.

A final closure is expected from 7pm next Friday, with the third set aside for finishing works like kerbs and road paving.

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the teams would work 200 hours, the equivalent of a month, to finish the works quickly.
