Hmm. I read the route number as 76. MMTB bus route 76 (which became 276 in
1971) as far as I'm aware was a Sundays-only combination of [2]77 and
[2]78: via Doncaster Junction, along Manningham Rd to High St then
Templestowe and onward to Warrandyte via Warrandyte Rd. My guess (60%
confidence) would be in Warrandyte Rd (between Anderson's Creek Rd and
Newmans Rd; top left quarter of Melways map 33). [2]278 ran the same route
except that it went direct via High St Templestowe and didn't include
Doncaster Junction (which was at Tram Rd/Doncaster Rd beside where
Westfield/Shoppingtown is).
