GCLR 2 opening & New Canberra Tram
  Tim Boxsell

G'day all, just got back from a quick trip to Canberra for a short bus tour of the works down there for the LR.
Mick our tour guide told me when I asked about the new tram that it had arrived at 3 this morning. I said if I knew that I'd have come last night.. (Think of the video I could have had) though the depot is pretty inaccessible, (Flemington Rd is awash with Cyclone wire fences & barriers, It's probably pitch black there at night too !) The depot is set back far from the road. Some on the tour said they could see it, wishful; thinking maybe ?
Hibberson St where the terminus will be is mostly just levelled ground with conduit sticking up everywhere, they've had to relay stormwater pipes & other utilities.Further along the ' track ' they have a lot of the slabs in & a few intersections laid as well. Saw 2 substations, & 2 tram stops under construction.
Pics yet to come, it's too blessed hot to do anything at the mo.
Regarding the GCLR2 opening, Richard, Huddo can we expect to see your finest here on Sunday night. (For the benefit of those of us who would love to be there, but can't make it.
Can't believe they're doing trackwork on the train line, though I suppose it was booked ages ago & the LR opening was sooner than expected.
I tried googling the story too, will have to wait til the heat dies down.
The vid from Helensvale to GCUH is great !
Bye for now,
Tim, in stinking HOT Sydney !
