In 1952 I boarded for a few months almost at the Maylands terminus (behind a
fruit shop) - the trams had ceased but the rails were still in the road
(unlike South Perth where piled up as scrap) . I didn't ever know the route
number - apparently 34.

With comments from onlookers like "What do you want to take pictures of

I am so grateful to those TDU members who were not put off to record those
things that we now look back on and say "Bloody Hell, have'nt things
changed'


One of those who obviously is "made of tougher stuff" is Noel Reed.

Have a look at the attached pic - you can almost read the lips and hear the
jeers from the passengers on the back platform.

Mal Rowe - awarding the TDU DPM (Distinguished Photographers Medal) to Noel
for photography under fire.
