One of the purported reasons (apart from the big donation to the liberal party from the local Mercedes-Benz distributor) that o-bahn was built instead of light rail to Tea Tree Plaza was that LR would “require” a tunnel in the city while o-bahn wouldn’t.
So now we have tram track being built on the surface towards where it would have connected with LR to the northeast, and the fume emitting o-bahn diesel buses are going into a tunnel.
